LET’S PREVENT STUNTING MOVEMENT ROTARY
2020 – 2021
This program aims to increase the capacity of cadres and parents to prevent stunting. Prior to the program’s implementation, F2H developed program tools, including a Height Ruler and a 1000 HPK Calendar, to help parents/caregivers assess their children’s height and understand the necessary steps to prevent stunting.
Field findings revealed that parents with children at risk of stunting, for various reasons (psychological, social, and economic), were reluctant to bring their children to the Integrated Health Post (Posyandu). Therefore, family counseling guidelines were developed for cadres to sensitize them and enable them to have comfortable, open discussions with their families.
F2H collaborates with Rorary Club 3140 in compiling and developing materials, as well as implementing the Let’s Prevent Stunting Program
In 2020, F2H socialized the “Let’s Prevent Stunting” program to clubs under Rotary Club 3410 via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was followed by training for nine prospective counselors in Bogor Regency. After the training, counselors provided counseling to 100 respondents who were potentially having stunted children, meeting the following criteria: young families, low income groups, single mothers, and children who had never attended a community health post (Posyandu).
Furthermore, Rotary distributed teaching aids in the form of height rulers and 1000 HPK calendars in each of its working areas: Medan, Palembang, Lampung, Jakarta, Bandung, Cilacap, Yogyakarta, and Probolinggo, totaling 1,200 height rulers and 400 calendars. One of the “Let’s Prevent Stunting” cadres, Lina Marlina, received an award as the best cadre in Bogor Regency in 2020.
In 2021, this activity was initiated by Rotary International District 3410 and partnered with private companies including Jawa Power, Adaro, and PT Sasa Inti to conduct training in their respective regions.
